Watch Dogs: Legion reportedly temporarily "bricking" Xbox One X consoles in story mission - schwingyested

Ubisoft's latest open world escapade Watch Dogs: Legion is launching this week, with reviews dropping across the internet (including our really personal from Josh here) today. However many reviewers are reporting a earnest game-breaking bug that seems to comprise cropping up in the Xbox One X version.

Mild spoilers follow, but reported to Eurogamer (and corroborated by, among others, The Shielder's Games Editor Keza MacDonald in a tweet which we've posted below) a story mission entitled 404 sees the console complaining of overheating before it punctually shuts down and left inoperable. According to McDonald, the good tidings is the console is replayable afterwards it's cooled down for a couple of hours, but the bug means players can't proceed the fib mode and essential contend with doing side quests and doing activities in the open world.

The good news is that Ubisoft are apparently aware of the issue, and have issued a statement saying: "We're aware of this offspring and in that location will be a hot fix due to be free on 30th October which should help."

But if you manage to get hold of a copy early, IT's probably worth holding off for now if you're intending to playact the game on the Xbox One X. Different consoles are said to not represent affected by this bug, which explains why we never encountered IT during our review of the game, which we undertook on a PlayStation 4.

I've been playing Watch Dogs Horde for a few days, but like several past reviewers I spoke to, I encountered a critical bug that bricked my console a few hours into the story content. I'm delaying the critique until it's patched – but I can but indicate you don't pip out up to now.

My Xbox did start working again after a few hours' cooldown. I will be fitting the Series X to see if I can get under one's skin past the broken mission before the patch on Thursday/Friday.
